Water Softeners
Water softeners act as types of water filtration systems to remove minerals like calcium and magnesium. These minerals cause water hardness, and this can lead to scale buildup in fixtures, pipes and appliances, thus making detergents less effective. Ultraviolet Water Treatment
Ultraviolet light is the best disinfectant. It is a type of electromagnetic radiation that kills or inactivates harmful microorganisms such as protozoa, bacteria and viruses. UV systems treat water by disrupting the DNA and RNA of these microorganisms and preventing them from replicating.
Reverse Osmosis Filter
Reverse Osmosis (RO) is another water purification process. It helps in removing impurities and contaminants from the water by getting it through a semi-permeable membrane. You apply pressure to the water and it goes through the membrane while the latter blocks the larger particles like ions, bacteria, viruses and salts. Under sink RO systems are the most common home water treatment systems.
Colour Removal
Color removal in water refers to the process of removing color-causing substances from water to make it visually clear or to meet certain water quality standards. Water color can be influenced by various factors, including organic materials (like algae, humic substances), industrial and agricultural pollutants (like dyes, chemicals, and industrial waste), and naturally occurring minerals (like iron or manganese).
Sulphur Removal
Sulfur compounds like hydrogen sulfide cause unpleasant odours (rotten eggs) and not only affect the taste but also the aesthetic quality of the water, too. Therefore, sulfur removal is very important. There are many ways to do so, and the choice depends on the specific sulphur concentration and water characteristics.
